Let’s talk about marketing.
How do you feel about marketing?
Do you love telling everyone about what you do, or do you dread it?
Over the years marketing seems to have built up a bit of a reputation. When speaking to clients I often get the feeling that they find marketing evil, that it’s a form of witchcraft and manipulation. Of course, as a marketer, I completely disagree but I do understand where the feelings come from.
Sometimes we may feel like we’re being tricked into buying something and that we’re not always in control. Some would call this good marketing, some would call this manipulation. Regardless of what you call it, you have to agree that it works because people are opening their wallets.
I’m not trying to say that this is the way to market your business. In fact, I’m going against this and say that this is NOT the way to market your business.
If you’re anything like me, a soulful entrepreneur, you want your client to feel ecstatic about their purchase from you. You want them to be over the moon happy, so happy they shout it from the rooftops.
This, lovely entrepreneur, is the result of marketing with soul and integrity.
We all know the feeling of buying something that we love so much, nobody really had to sell it to us. It feels like nobody really DID market it to us, but this is where you are wrong.
Because if it wasn’t marketed, you wouldn’t have found the product or service.
Hah! That’s what I call good marketing.
So how can you market your business with soul so that your buyers will walk away ecstatic and in love with their purchase?
First you need to find yourself and really know what you stand for and what impact you want your business to have in the world. It is important to have a clear vision and completely 100% stand by that vision. Go deep, spend some time getting clear on who you are, what you stand for and what you want to do in the world. You know it when you feel that fire in your belly, when you find that one thing you must do.
Once you know your why and your vision, you need to bring life to that vision and give it a voice. Speak up about the things you passionately stand for, tell your ideal clients about your vision and what impact you want your business to have in the world. Your message needs to be clear, it needs to speak in your tone of voice and resonate with your ideal clients. Determine what you want to say, how you want to say it and how you want to work with your clients.
Lastly, give love. When you speak to your clients, write blogs or post on social media, drench it in authenticity and be 100% genuine. In everything you put out into the world add a bit of your personal flavour so that your tribe instantly know it’s you. You can do this with words, images, sounds etc. When you give from the heart it shines through and the right people will naturally connect with you.
